ORDINANCE NO. 2468 <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE 1990 EDITION OF THE B.O.C.A. <br />NATIONAL FIRE PREVENTION CODE PERTAINING TO RECREATIONAL <br />FIRES USED FOR COOKING FOOD FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION <br />WHEREAS, the Village of Elk Grove Village recently experienced <br />a fire in a residential area due to the improper use of an outdoor <br />fire utilized to cook food for human consumption; and <br />WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees of the Village <br />of Elk Grove Village after having considerated the recommendation <br />of the Fire Department, find and believe it to be in the best inte- <br />rest of the Village that provisions of the 1990 edition of the <br />B.O.C.A. National Fire Prevention Code relating to recreational <br />fires utilized to cook food for human consumption be amended as <br />hereinafter set forth. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of <br />Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and <br />DuPage, Illinois as follows: <br />Section 1: That Section 5-3-2 AMENDMENTS TO CODE be and the <br />same is hereby amended by adding therein the following amendment <br />to Section 301.2 of the 1990 edition of the B.O.C.A. National Fire <br />Prevention Code: <br />301.2 Allowable burning: Open burning shall be allowed <br />without prior notification to the code official for: <br />highway safety flares, smudge pots and similar occupa- <br />tional needs. Open burning without prior notification <br />shall also be permitted for recreational fires which <br />are hereby defined as outdoor fires utilized for the <br />cooking of food for human consumption, subject to the <br />following conditions and regulations: <br />
