ORDINANCE NO. Q 7'O <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE XV, SCAVENGERS, <br />OF CHAPTER 22, OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF TIIE <br />VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the President and Board <br />of Trustees of the Village of Elk GroveVillage, Counties of Cook <br />and DuPage, Illinois, as follows: <br />Section 1: That Article XV, Scavengers, be and the same <br />is hereby amended so as to read as follows: <br />"Article XV — Scavengers. <br />22.1501. Definition. The term "scavengers" is hereby <br />defined to mean any person engaged in the removal and disposal <br />of table refuse or animal or vegetable matter, usually known <br />as 'garbage= from hoteb, restaurants, cafes, boarding houses, <br />cafeterias, residences, commercial or industrial establish— <br />ments, and any other place within the Village wherein food is <br />served or is obtained upon the premises; or the removal and <br />disposal of combustible refuse, including, but not limited to <br />paper, cartons, boxes, barrels, wood, excelsior, tree branches, <br />yard trimming, or the removal and disposal of non—combustible <br />refuse, including, but not limited to, metals, tin cans, metal <br />furniture, dirt and other mineral waste, street wastes and <br />ashes. <br />22.1502. License required. It shall be unlawful for any <br />person, firm or corporation to engage in tl-p- business of a <br />scavenger without first having obtained a license therefor. <br />The annual fee for such license shall be $600, if only one <br />vehicle is used for scavenger purposes. If more than one <br />vehicle is used, the annual fee shall be $600 plus $50 for <br />each vehicle over one used in the Village. <br />22.1503. Issuance of License. One license shall be is— <br />sued for scavenger service for the entire Village, including <br />residential, commercial and industrial zoned districts; all <br />other licenses issue:. shall be for scavenger service in the <br />industrial and commercial z,-)ned areas of the Village. The <br />character of the license shall be designated on the applica— <br />tion and on the licensing document itself. Said license shall <br />cre4te no vested interest in the licensee and may be renewed <br />or revoked at the discretion of the President and Board of <br />Trustees at the end of any licensing period, with or without <br />cause. The licensing period for scavenger license shall <br />commence on May 1 and end on April 30 of each year. <br />
