Z)y <br />ORDINANCE NO, i <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 14 OF THE <br />MUNICIPAL CODE, BY ADDING A NEW SECTION <br />PROVIDING FOR THE REMOVAL OF ABANDONED <br />VEHICLES <br />WHEREAS, a continually increasing number of motor vehicles <br />are being abandoned upon the streets and vacant private property <br />within the Village of Elk Grove Village; and <br />WHEREAS, such abandonment of motor velicles creates a problem <br />insofar as the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of the <br />Village of Elk Grove Village; and <br />WHEREAS, the "Illinois Vehicle Code" grants to the corporate <br />authorities of each municipality the power to provide for the removal <br />of abandoned motor vehicles; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the President and Board of <br />Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and <br />DuPage, Illinois, that a new section, entitled, "Abandoned Vehicles" <br />be added to Chapter 14 of the Municipal Code, said section to read <br />as follows: <br />Section 1: 14.1101 (Abandoned Vehicles) <br />(a) It shall be unlawful for a person to abandon a <br />vehicle upon or adjacent to any roadway within <br />the Village of Elk Grove Village, Illinois. <br />(b) It shall be unlawful for a person to abandon a <br />vehicle upon any public or private property without <br />the express or implied consent of the owner or <br />person in lawful possession or control of the <br />property. <br />(c) It shall be unlawful for a person to permit a <br />motor vehicle to remain in any stationary posi- <br />tion in an unoperational condition as to create <br />
