ORDINANCE NO. AW <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE MUNICIPAL CODE, <br />ARTICLE IX CHAPTER 14. -RELATING TO BICYCLES <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAIiNED by the President and Board of <br />Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and <br />DuPage, Illinois: <br />Section 1 - That Chapter 14, Article IX of the Municipal Code of the <br />Village of Elk Grove Village is hereby amended to read as follows; <br />it ARTICLE IX BICYCLES <br />14.,4Q1 LICENSES REQUIRED.) No person who resides within this Village shall <br />ride or propel a bicycle on any street or upon any public path set aside <br />for the exclusive use of bicycles, unless such bicycle has been licensed <br />and a license plate or sticker is attached thereto as provided herein. <br />14.902 LICENSING OF BICYCLES.) (a) The owner or operator of a bicycle <br />shall obtain an annual license for each bicycle. Such licenses are not <br />transferable. (b) Licenses shall be obtained from the Village Clerk. <br />The fee for the first license shall be $1.00. (c) Annual relicensing of <br />same bicycle shall be at no additional cost. (d) Loss of license or <br />bicycle with license attached shall be reported immediately to the Chief <br />of Police. <br />14.903 ISSUAiNCE OF LICENSE PLATES OR STICKERS.) The Village Clerk shall <br />issue a license plate or sticker bearing the word "Bicycle", the license <br />number assigned to the bicycle and the name of the Village, to the owner <br />of said bicycle, if said bicycle meets the requirements of this ordinance <br />and the issuance of such license plate or sticker shall be the license to <br />operate such bicycle on the streets of this Village. <br />14.904 VILLAGE SERIAL NUMBER.) At the time said license plate or sticker <br />is issued, there shall be stamped into the frame of said bicycle a Village <br />code and serial number, and the Police Department shall keep an accurate <br />record of the Village serial numbers stamped upon all bicycles, together <br />with a record of the make of the bicycle, and type and color thereof, and <br />the manufacturer's serial number, if any. <br />14.905 ATTACHMENT OF LICENSE PLATE OR STICKER.) (a) The Police Department <br />shall cause the license plate or sticker, issued by the Village Clerk, to <br />be firmly attached to the rear mudguard or frame of the bicycle for which <br />issued, in such position as to be plainly visible from the rear. (b) No <br />person shall remove a license plate or sticker from a bicycle during the <br />period for which issued, except upon a transfer of ownership or in the event <br />the bicycle is dismantled and no longer operated upon any street in this <br />Village. <br />- 1 - <br />
