<br />AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A FIRE, PREVENTION CODE, A FIRE PREVENTION BUREAU,
<br />ESTABLISHING TIT DUTIES OF TEE FIRE PREVENTION BUREAU AND ESTABLISHING THE
<br />LICENSING OF BUSIITSSES DEALING WITfi FLAMABLE LIQUIDS AND AMENDING THE
<br />MUNICIPAL CODE 0 TIT VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE OF 1961,
<br />NOW3 THEREFOPti, BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees of the
<br />Village of Els Grose Village, Cook County, Illinois:
<br />Section 1. That Rection 6,010, Chapter 6, Fire Department, of the Municipal
<br />Code of Elk Grove Village of 1.?61 is hereby repealed.
<br />Section 2, T!,at Chapter 6, Firs Department, of the Municipal Code of Elk
<br />Grore Villas of 1551 is horalry a ended by the addition of the following
<br />sections which sh5.il read as follows;
<br />Section 6,010 ADOPTION OF FIRE PP.EVENTION CODE RECO&YNDED BY THE NATIONAL
<br />BOARD 0^ FIRE U;�IDERWR.TTERS. The Fire Prevention Code, other than the
<br />provisions thereof re)ating to fees for licenses and permits and relating to
<br />penalties, re-omaor'3d by the National Board of Fire Underwriters, 1960 Edition,
<br />and subsequent ans r_dments thc-reto, adopted prior to the adoption of this Code,
<br />is hereby adeptcd as the Fire Prsvention Code of the Village and is hereby
<br />made a part of Viis Code, Three copies of such Fire Prevention Code and
<br />amendments thereto have for more than the past fifteen days been, now are
<br />and hereafter shall be kept on file in the office of the Village Clerk. Where
<br />arjy provisions of such Fire Prevention Code are in conflict with the state law,
<br />the provisions of this Code or other ordinances of the Village, the state law,
<br />the provisions of thi Code and such Village ordinances shall prevail.
<br />Section 6„011 ESTABLISHhENT AND DUTIES OF BUREAU OF FIRE PREVENTION.
<br />A. The Fire Pre—,ention Cede shall be enforced by the Bureau of Fire Prevention
<br />in the Fixe Department of the Villa.ge of Elk Grove Village which is hereby
<br />established and which shall be operated under the supervision of the Chief of
<br />the Fire Departmcni,
<br />B. The Fire Chief shall be Chief of the Bureau of Fire Prevention, which
<br />bureau shall consist of the Fire Chief, Superintendent of Building, and three
<br />other members to be appointed by the Chief of the Bureau.
<br />C. The Chief of the Fire Department may detail such members of the Fire
<br />Department as inspect .-s as shall from time to time be necessary. The Chief
<br />of the Fire Department may recommend to the corporate authorities of the Village
<br />of Elk Grave Village the employ7�ent of technical inspectors.
<br />Section 6.012 DEFINITIONS. Wherever the work "Municipality" is used in the
<br />Fire Prevention Code, it shall be held to mean the Village of Elk Grove Village,
<br />Section 6.013 PROHIBITION OF STORAGE AND LOCATION OF CERTAIN MATTER.
<br />A. Storage of flammable liquids in outside aboveground tanks referred to in
<br />Section 16.22a of the Fire Prevention Code is hereby prohibited.
<br />B. New bulk plants for flammable liquids referred to in Section 16.51 of the
<br />Fire Prevention Code are hereby prohibited.
<br />C. Bulk storage of liquified petroleum gas referred to in Section 21.6a of
<br />the Fire Prevention Cede is hereby prohibited.
<br />D. Storage of explosives and blasting agents referred to in Section 12.6b of
<br />the Fire Prevention Code is hereby prohibited.
<br />Section 6.014 MODIFICATIONS. The Bureau of Fire Prevention shall have power to
<br />modify any of the provisions of the Fire Prevention Code upon application in
<br />writing by the owner or lessee, or his duly authorized agent, when there are
<br />practical difficulties in the way of carrying out the strict letter of the Code,
<br />provided that the spi_-it of the Code shall be observed, public safety secured,
<br />and substantial justice done. The particulars of such modification when granted
<br />or allowed and the decision of the Bureau of Fire Prevention shall be entered
<br />upon the records of the department and a signed copy shall be furnished the
<br />Section 6,015 NEW MATERIALS OR PROCESSES WHICH MAY REQUIRE PERMITS. The Village
<br />President, the Chief of the Fire Department and the Bureau of Fire Prevention shall
<br />act as a commit`.ee to dstermine and specify, after giving affected persons an
<br />opportunity t.o be heard, any r_.w materials, processes or occupancies, which
<br />shall require pernits, in addition to those now enumerated in said Code. The
<br />Chief of the Fire Departs nt shall post such list in a conspicuous place in
<br />his office, and diotr-hi;te copies thereof to interested persons.
