RESOLUTION NO. 2-92 <br />A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF LAKE COUNTY FOREST PRESERVE <br />DISTRICT ACQUISITION OF PART OF FORT SHERIDAN BY THE <br />VILLAGE OF ELK, GROVE VILLAGE <br />WHEREAS, the future use of the Fort Sheridan property is of utmost <br />concern to the residents of the Village of Elk Grove Village; and <br />WHEREAS, the Forest Preserve District of Lake County has recently <br />offered the U.S. Department of Defense $10 million for the northern portion <br />of the Fort Sheridan property, an environmentally sensitive site which is <br />on the shore of Lake Michigan and includes a variety of natural areas and a <br />golf course; and <br />WHEREAS, to date, the recommendations of the Fort Sheridan Commission <br />have been largely ignored by the Department of Defense; and <br />WHEREAS, the residents of the Village of Elk Grove Village would like <br />to see as much of the Fort property as possible remain as open space for <br />the use and enjoyment of generations to come; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees <br />of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, State of <br />Illinois as follows: <br />Section 1: That the President and Board of Trustees of the Village <br />of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, State of Illinois, <br />hereby expresses its support and approval of the plan by the Lake County <br />Forest Preserve District to acquire a 250 acre parcel located at the <br />northern end of the Fort Sheridan Military Reserve. <br />Section 2: That the Village Clerk is authorized hereby to send <br />certified copies of this Resolution to Secretary of Defense Dick Cheney, <br />Congressman John Porter, Senator Alan Dixon and Senator Paul Simon. <br />Section 3: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect <br />from and after its passage and approval according to law. <br />PASSED this 14th day of January , 1992. <br />APPROVED this 14th day of January , 1992. <br />Charles S.
