A RESOLUTION APPROVING A CORONAVIRUS RELIEF PACKAGE II TO
AUTHORIZE A $200 CREDIT TO EVERY UTILITY ACCOUNT WITH THE VILLAGE
EFFECTIVE DECEMBER 1, 2020
WHEREAS, a Coronavirus Relief Package Proclamation of Mayor Craig B. Johnson was
established on March 23, 2020 and was approved by the Mayor and Board of Trustees on April
14, 2020 to provide relief to all single-family and multi -family residents who had individual or
separate utility accounts with the Village, to receive a $200 credit on their accounts with a grace
period of late fees being extended to May 31, 2020 and all business license fees were waived for
the licensing year of June 1, 2020 through May 31, 2021; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Elk Grove Village continues to suffer from the nationwide
COVID-19 Pandemic which has severely affected the community as evidenced by the closing of
businesses and schools as well as the stay-at-home executive order of the Governor; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Board of Trustees have determined that the residents
continue to suffer from the effects of the pandemic and that the financial condition of the Village
is such that additional relief can be provided to the residents pursuant to a Coronavirus Relief
Package II, which will provide an additional $200 credit on their utility accounts after the first of
the year.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the
Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, Illinois as follows:
Section 1: Effective December 1, 2020 all households in the Village shall receive an
additional $200 water bill credit, provided that residents of the household live in the Village on
December 1, 2020. Single-family and multi -family residents, who have individual or
separate utility accounts with the Village, shall receive a $200 credit on their accounts in January
and February 2021. Multi -family residential utility households wherein utility services are paid
by the Condominium or Homeowners Association shall likewise be eligible for a $200 credit
through the following arrangement between the Village and the Association.
Section 2: At such time as the Association provides the Village with the number of
occupied units, the Village will provide the Association with a check equal to $200 per each
occupied unit. The Association shall then provide a $200 credit on residents' Association fees or
such other manner as deemed appropriate.
Section 3: That the additional Coronavirus Relief Package II shall be effective
December 1, 2020 upon execution by the Mayor and the filing thereof with the Village Clerk.
Section 4: This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and
approval according to law.
