HomeMy WebLinkAboutFIRE & POLICE COMMISSION - 10/13/2020 - Meeting MinutesMINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE HELD ON OCTOBER 13, 2020 Executive Session The commission discussed personnel matters and conducted interviews for Police. Approval of Minutes Review of Minutes from September 15, 2020. — The minutes were approved. Invoices for Approval None Correspondence On 9-21-2020 Village Counsel submitted a complaint against an officer requesting a hearing. Old Business 1. Background Reviews — The commission reviewed backgrounds submitted by the police department for new recruits. The background checks were either approved or rejected. 2. Sergeants Exam — The commission discussed the individual oral interview process completed prior. The remaining components are to review the Chief, Deputy Chief, and Commander evaluations, calculate seniority points, and to calculate military points. The Final list will be created and posted in early November. 3. Police Openings — The Police Department has 4 openings. The commission made 4 conditional offers of employment and sent 5 out for psychological evaluations. The commission discussed hiring for the January 0 academy. 4. Fire Openings — The 3 new firefighters started on their planned date of October 5t". The Fire Department is not authorized to hire any more positions. New Business 1. Hearing Date — The commission initially set a hearing date of October 14t", but the date did not work for MAP. MAP filed a continuance with the commission's attorney, and a new hearing date has been set for October 26t". Chairman Ehrke is working on signing all subpoenas for the hearing. Eligibility List Firefighter Eligibility List will expire on September 19, 2021 Fire Lieutenant Eligibility list scheduled to expire on March 9, 2022 Police Officer Eligibility list August 14, 2022 Police Sergeant Eligibility list scheduled to expire on July 8, 2021 Adjournment The meeting was adjourned at 4:30pm.
