HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCE - 3041 - 6/21/2005 - AMEND RAFFLE 6-8-3 CODEORDINANCE NO. 3041 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING 6-8-3 RAFFLES OF THE VILLAGE CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE BE IT ORDAINED, by the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage Illinois as follows: Section 1: That Section 6-8-3A Definitions of the Village Code be and the same is hereby amended by adding thereto a definition for a business organization which shall read as follows: BUSINESS: A voluntary organization composed of individuals and businesses who have joined together to advance the commercial, financial, industrial and civic interests of the Village. Section 2: That Paragraph 1 of Section 6-8-3B License Required; Application be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: No organization within the Village shall operate a raffle without first having secured a license pursuant to the provisions of this Sub-Section B. No raffle shall award prizes or merchandise in a single raffle to exceed the value of $1,000,000.00. The maximum retail value of each prize awarded by a licensee in a single raffle shall be $1,000,000.00. The maximum price which may be charged for each raffle chance issued or sold shall be $100.00. The maximum number of days during which the chances may be issued or sold shall be 365 days. As a result of the charitable nature of eligible organizations, the fee for each license shall be deemed waived for each and every applicant. Section 3: That Paragraph 3 of Section 6-8-3B License Required; Application be amended to read as follows: Licenses shall be issued only to bona fide religious, charitable, labor, fraternal, education, veterans or business organizations that operate without profit to their members and which have been in existence continuously for a period of five (5) years immediately before making application for a license and which have had during that entire five (5) year period a bona fide membership engaged in carrying out their objectives. Section 4: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval according to law. VOTE: AYES: 5 NAYS: 0 ABSENT: 1 PASSED this 21st day of June, 2005.
