A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND VILLAGE CLERK TO
EXECUTE A LETTER OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE VILLAGE OF ELK
GROVE VILLAGE AND WASTE MANAGEMENT
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Board of Trustees of
the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, State of Illinois as
follows:
Section 1: That the Mayor be and is hereby authorized to sign the attached
document marked:
LETTER OF UNDERSTANDING
AMENDING THE SOLID WASTE CONTRACT
BETWEEN THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE AND WASTE MANAGEMENT
FOR RESIDENTIAL, YARDWASTE, AND RECYCLING SERVICES
a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof as if fully set forth and the
Village Cleric is authorized to attest said documents upon the signature of the Mayor.
Section 2: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after
its passage and approval according to law.

Letter of Understanding
Amending the solid waste contract
Between the Village of Elk Grove and Waste Management for
Residential,Yardwaste, and Recycling Services
The Village of Elk Grove and Waste Management hereby agree to extend the existing solid waste
contract for an additional 5 year period,beginning November 1, 2005 and terminating October 31,
2010 with the following amendments to the contract:
Revised Section 3.1 -Term of Contract
The initial term of this extension shall commence on November 1, 1994 and end on October 31,
2010 unless terminated at an earlier date pursuant to the terms of this Waste Contract.
Revised Section 5.1(b)(ii)a)-Yardwaste Charge
The rate for yardwaste stickers shall be$1.25 per sticker throughout the term of this agreement.
Revised Section 10.1 -Recyclable Materials Collection Service
a. Commingled Toter Recyclable Material Collection beginning June 2002:
1. Waste Management shall provide each residence with a 64 gallon recycling Toter on
wheels for rolling to the curbside. The Toters shall be provided at the Contractor's
expense. The recycling Toter will be clearly marked"For Recyclables Only". All
recycling Toters will be owned and maintained by Waste Management. Waste
Management must supply a sufficient quantity of Toters to adequately service all
single-family attached and detached dwelling units in the Village. The Village shall
make the sole determination of sufficient quantity.
2. Waste Management will provide a commingled recycling program allowing residents
to place all recyclables together into the 64 gallon Toter provided by Waste
Management above.
3. Waste Management shall repair or replace, at its expense, any recycling container
damaged as a result of handling or wear and tear as expected. There shall be no cost
to the Village or residents of the Village for replacing recycling Toters.
4. Upon collection of the recyclables, Contractors shall close lids on containers
immediately after emptying.

Attached.
By signing below, each party agrees to accept the terms of this Letter of Understanding amending
the terms of the existing solid waste contract and pricing in the revised exhibit.
