HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTION - 22-03 - 3/25/2003 - SUPPORTING USAF/WAR ON TERROR/IRAQRESOLUTION NO. 22-03 A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE UNITED STATES ARMED FORCES IN FIGHTING THE WAR ON TERROR AND IN IRAQ WHEREAS, the President of the United States has activated and deployed numerous men and women of the Armed Forces from Elk Grove Village to assignments and missions related to the ongoing global war on terror and the current crisis in Iraq, and WHEREAS, the uniformed men and women of our community are once again called upon to offer their devotion in the defense of our Country and to bring peace to a troubled comer of the Earth. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Board of Trustees of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, Illinois as follows: Section 1: That the Mayor and Board of Trustees expresses its unfailing support of the men and women now in harm's way who are serving to protect our Nation, our way of life, and the future security of the United States of America, and wishes them a safe and speedy return home. Section 2: That the Mayor and Board of Trustees express their support for the people of Iraq to be liberated from the tyranny of a dictatorship so they may enjoy a free and democratic society and shape their own prosperous future. Section 3: That the Mayor and Board of Trustees support our troops in bringing the enduring war on terrorism to a successful conclusion wherever it may be fought. Section 4: That a certified copy of this Resolution shall be forwarded to President Bush and the members of the U.S. Congressional delegation who represent the Elk Grove Village community. Section 5: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval according to law.
