A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND VILLAGE CLERK TO
EXECUTE A LETTER OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE COOK COUNTY
HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT AND THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE
(LANDMEIER ROAD AT BUSSE ROAD, DEVON AVENUE AT BUSSE
ROAD/MEDIAN LANDSCAPING)
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Board of Trustees of
the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, State of Illinois as
follows:
Section 1: That the Mayor be and is hereby authorized to sign the attached
documents marked:
LETTER OF UNDERSTANDING
LANDMEIER ROAD AT BUSSE ROAD
DEVON AVENUE AT BUSSE ROAD
a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof as if fully set forth and the
Village Clerk is authorized to attest said documents upon the signature of the Mayor.
Section 2: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after
its passage and approval according to law.

Re: Letter of Understanding
Landmeier Road at Busse Road STP M8003(089)
Devon Avenue at Busse Road STP M7003(829)
Dear President Johnson:
In response to a letterof May6,2003,the Highway Department concurs with your request to omit the
concrete median surface on the east leg of Landmeier Road at Busse Road and both legs of Devon
Avenue at Busse Road.In place of concrete,topsoil and coding will be substituted into the two on-going
construction projects at County expense.We have prepared this Letter of Understanding,in duplicate,
regarding the future maintenance of such a median.
The Village shall own,operate and maintain the sodded median installed as part of STP M8003(089)
and M7003(829),in its entirety,said maintenance to include mowing of the sod,watering,removal of
dead sod and upkeep of the median in a sightly and litter-free condition.
This Letterof Understanding stands in lieu of separate Cook County Highway Department Permit for
said facility and the Village shall be bound to the general terms of Cook County Highway Permits as
they exist the date of execution by the Village.
Should the Village, at some later date, desire to enhance the quality of sodded median with
underdrains,irrigation system,plantings and trees,a separate County Highway Department Permit will
be required for such work.
If you concur with this Letter of Understanding, please sign both copies, keep one and return
the remaining copy to this office.
