AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 6, CHAPTER 4, SECTION 6-4-5-4:B. FIRE
LANES OF THE VILLAGE CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE BY
ADDING AMENDED DESIGNATED FIRE LANES FOR ALE%IAN BROTHERS MEDICAL
CENTER (800 ATRRTRRFTRLD ROAD)
WHEREAS, Thomas R. Farrell, Director of Safety/Security,
being the agent of the owner of certain property located at 800
Biesterfield Road (commonly known as Alexian Brothers Medical
Center) in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, has requested of the
Village of Elk Grove Village in writing, that certain areas
within their property be designated as fire lanes, a copy of said
request being attached hereto and incorporated herein as Exhibit
"A"; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Board of Trustees find and believe
that it is in the best interests to have said area designated as
fire lanes.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the Mayor and Board of
Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook
and DUPage, Illinois:
Section is That Section 6-4-5-4:B, Fire Lanes Designated,
of the Village Code of the Village of Elk Grove Village be and
the same is hereby amended by adding thereto the following:
Alexian Brothers Medical Center, 800 Biesterfield Road:
All areas designated as "Fire Lanes" on a map, entitled,
"Alexian Brothers Medical Center" which map is hereby
incorporated by reference as part of Ordinance No. 2895.
Section 2: That any prior designation of Fire Lanes at
Alexian Brothers Medical Center is hereby repealed.

Section 3: That the owner or owners of the property where
the above signs are to be located are hereby directed to install
and maintain said signs subject to the approval of the Chief of
the Fire Department of the Village of Elk Grove Village.
Section 4: That any person, firm, or corporation who
violates any provisions of this Ordinance shall be subject to a fine
of not less than twenty-five dollars ($25.00) and no more than five
hundred dollars ($500.00) for each offense.
Section 5: That the village Clerk is hereby authorized to
publish this Ordinance in pamphlet form.
Section 6: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage and approval and publication
according to law.

The expansion project to the parking garage is now complete. As a result, employees have moved into
the garage and the hospital now has adequate parldng for patients and visitors. The next step will be to
identify and mark fire lanes to insure safe passage for emergency vehicles. Attached you will find a map
which identifies "Fire Lanes" marked in yellow. I am asking for your approval to have these "Fire Lanes"
under ordinance so Facilities Management will be able to post signs and enable the Elk Grove Police
Department to issue parking citations to violators. if you require any further information, please feel free to
contact me.
