AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 3-7:D. AND SECTION 7A -1:B. OF THE
ZONING ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE FOR NEW REGULATIONS WITH
RESPECT TO THE INSTALLATION OFFENCES
WHEREAS, the Plan Commission of the Village of Elk Grove Village,
sitting as a Zoning Commission, considered the question of amending Sections
3-7:D. and 7A -1B. of the Zoning Ordinance to establish amended regulations for
Fences; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove
Village, after having considered the recommendation and finding of said Plan
Commission, find and believe that the proposed amendment is in the best
interest of the Village.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and Board of
Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage
Illinois as follows:
Section 1: That Section 3-7.D.3. of the Zoning Ordinance be and the same
is hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 3-7:D.3.
No fence shall be located within a required front yard except those
permitted by subsection 7A -1:B. of this code. No fence shall extend
beyond the nearest front comer of the principal building located on the lot
where the fence is installed nor beyond a line extended from the nearest
front comer of the principal building located on an adjacent single family
residential lot. Fences may be located along the side and rear lot lines
pursuant to the fence regulations of the Village of Elk Grove Village.
Section 2. That Section 7A -1:B. - Fences. of the Zoning Ordinance be
and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
1. Double Frontage Lots
On double frontage lots where the rear yard abuts a public street, fences shall be
permitted along the rear property line on private property, no closer than one foot
(1) from the public sidewalk.
2. Comer and Triple Frontage Lots
(a) When not more than four feet (4) in height, fences may be located
not closer than three feet (3) to the street side property line,
between the front edge of the house and the rear property line.
(b) Greater than four feet (4) and not more than six feet (6) in height,
fences may be located not closer than ten feet (10) to the street
side property line between the front edge of the house and the rear
edge of the house, and not closer than three feet (3) to the street
side property line between the rear edge of the house and the rear
property line.
(c) On triple frontage lots where the rear yard abuts a public street,
fences shall be permitted along the rear property line on private
property, no closer than one foot (1) from the public sidewalk.
Section 2: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its
passage and approval according to law.
