CALL TO ORDER: Trustee Torres called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. ROLL CALL: PRESENT: Trustees Christopher Torres, Thomas Molloy, Warren Moody, and Charles Walsh ABSENT: Trustee Allan Ambrose ALSO PRESENT: Attorney Rick Reimer, Remer Dobrovolny & LaBardi, PC (RDL); Finance Director Christine Tromp, Elk Grove Village; Sam Meyer, Lauterbach & Amen LLP (L&A); Pensioners Edward Hansen and Edwin Medina, Elk Grove Village Police; Applicants Attorney Joe Mazzone; Village Attorney Yvette Heintzelman, Elk Grove Village; Court Reporter Michelle Marvin HEARING REGARDING RETIREMENT BENEFIT AND CREDITABLE SERVICE — EDWIN MEDINA: Village Petition to Intervene: Attorney Heinzelmann addressed the Board on why the Village should be granted intervention from the Elk Grove Police Pension Board in the hearing regarding Edwin Medina's creditable service case. Applicant's Attorney Mazzone addressed the Board on why the Pension Board should deny the petition. CLOSED SESSION, IF NEEDED: A motion was made by Trustee Torres and seconded by Trustee Molloy adjourn into executive session at 4:38 p.m. under section 2(c)4 of the open meetings act following the administrative hearing on the matter of the intervention by the Village on the Edwin Medina creditable service claim. Motion carried by roll call vote. AYES: Trustees Torres, Molloy, Moody and Walsh NAYS: None ABSENT: Trustee Ambrose A motion was made by Trustee Molloy and seconded by Trustee Moody to re-enter to open session at 5:11 p.m. Motion carried by roll call vote. AYES: Trustees Torres, Molloy, Moody and Walsh NAYS: None ABSENT: Trustee Ambrose HEARING REGARDING RETIREMENT BENEFITS AND CREDITABLE SERVICE — EDWIN MEDINA (CONTINUED): Village Petition to Intervene: Attorney Reimer noted the Pension Board agrees the Village has complied with section 703 of the Board's Rules and Regulations. A motion was made by Trustee Walsh and seconded by Trustee Moody to grant the Village's petition to Intervene on the case of Edwin Medina's creditable service. Motion carried by roll call vote. AYES: Trustees Torres, Molloy, Moody and Walsh NAYS: None ABSENT: Trustee Ambrose The Board and the attorneys' discussed potential hearing dates. A motion was made by Trustee Torres and seconded by Trustee Molloy to approve Tim Hain's contribution refund in the amount of $50,602.50 paid directly to himself. Motion carried by roll call vote. Post -Meeting note: Under review Eric Hain's contribution refund totaled $53,189.13 APPLICATIONS FOR RETIREMENT/DISABILITY BENEFITS: Review/Approve Regular Retirement Benefits —Matthew FioRito, John Bazukas & Joseph Sacamano: The Board reviewed the regular retirement benefit calculation for Mathew FioRito prepared by L&A. Sergeant FioRito had an entry date of April 15, 1991, retirement date of May 28, 2021, effective date of pension of May 29, 2021, 52 years of age at date of retirement, 30 years of creditable service, applicable salary of $128,050.26, applicable pension percentage of 75%, amount of originally granted monthly pension of $8,003.14 and amount of originally granted annual pension of $96.037.68. A motion was made by Trustee Moody and seconded by Trustee Molloy to approve Matthew FioRito's regular retirement benefit calculated by L&A. Motion carried by roll call vote. AYES: Trustees Torres, Molloy, Moody and Walsh NAYS: None ABSENT: Trustee Ambrose The Board reviewed the regular retirement benefit calculation for John Bazukas prepared by L&A. The Board reviewed the regular retirement benefit calculation for John Bazukas prepared by L&A. Sergeant Bazukas had an entry date of April 15, 1991, retirement date of May 28, 2021, effective date of pension of May 29, 2021, 53 years of age at date of retirement, 30 years of creditable service, applicable salary of $128,050.26, applicable pension percentage of 75%, amount of originally granted monthly pension of $8,003.14 and amount of originally granted annual pension of $96,037.68. A motion was made by Trustee Moody and seconded by Trustee Molloy to approve John Bazukas regular retirement benefit calculated by L&A. Motion carried by roll call vote. AYES: Trustees Torres, Molloy, Moody and Walsh NAYS: None ABSENT: Trustee Ambrose The Board reviewed the regular retirement benefit calculation for Joseph Sacamano prepared by L&A. Patrol Officer Sacamano had an entry date of February 15,1982, retirement date of May 21, 2021, effective date of pension of May 22, 2021, 63 years of age at date of retirement, 39 years of creditable service, applicable salary of $108,806.85, applicable pension percentage of 75%, amount of originally granted monthly pension of $6,800.43 and amount of originally granted annual pension of $81,605.16. A motion was made by Trustee Walsh and seconded by Trustee Moody to approve Joseph Scamano's regular retirement benefit calculated by L&A. Motion carried by roll call vote AYES: Trustees Torres, Molloy, Moody and Walsh NAYS: None ABSENT: Trustee Ambrose Deceased Pensioner — Vincent Lcpez/Approval of Surviving Spouse Benefrt — Dorie Lopez: The Board noted that Vincent Lopez passed away on May 28, 2021. The Board reviewed the surviving spouse benefit calculation for Dorie Lopez with an effective date of May 29, 2021 for a monthly benefit of $ 6,8 01.94 with no additional increases. A motion was made by Trustee Walsh and seconded by Trustee Moody to approve the surviving spouse benefit of Dorie Lopez calculated by L&A. Motion carried by roll call vote. Further discussion will be had at the next regular meeting. ADJOURNMENT: A motion was made by Trustee Molloy and seconded by Trustee Ambrose to adjoum the meeting at 5:46 p.m. Motion carried by roll call vote.
