AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 3-6:D.2 OF THE ZONING ORDINANCE TO
PROVIDE FOR NEW RESTRICTIONS WITH RESPECT TO DETACHED ACCESSORY
STRUCTURES IN REAR YARDS
WHEREAS, the Plan Commission of the Village of Elk Grove
Village, sitting as a Zoning Commission, considered the question
of amending Section 3-6:D.2 of the Zoning Ordinance to establish
amended regulations for detached accessory structures in rear
yards; and
WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees of the Village
of Elk Grove Village, after having considered the recommendation
and finding of said Plan Commission, find and believe that the
proposed amendment is in the best interest of the Village.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board
of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook
and DuPage Illinois as follows:
Section 1: That Section 3-6:D.2 of the Zoning Ordinance be
and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 3-6:D.2 No detached accessory structure shall
exceed a height of fifteen (15) feet measured from the
finished grade to the highest point of the structure, nor
exceed 600 square feet in gross floor area, nor shall any
individual side exceed a length of twenty-five (25)feet.
Detached accessory structures shall not be located closer
than sixty (60) feet to the front lot line, nor within the
required side yard nor occupy more than 30% of the required
rear yard area provided the structure shall not be closer than
six (6) feet to the rear lot line or the side lot line
unless greater restrictions are required by easement. This
sub -section D.2 shall not apply to storage sheds which are
otherwise regulated pursuant to sub -section D.6 of this
Section.
Section 2: This Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from after its passage and approval according to law.
