HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCE - 2699 - 5/25/1999 - YOUTH COMMISSIONORDINANCE NO. 2699 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2-13-1 OF THE VILLAGE CODE AS IT PERTAINS TO MEMBERSHIP IN THE YOUTH COMMISSION BY PROVIDING FOR PARK DISTRICT TRUSTEE MEMBERS AS WELL AS PROVISIONS FOR TEMPORARY MEMBERSHIP OF STUDENT COMMISSIONERS WHEREAS, a Youth Commission has been established consisting of nine (9) members to facilitate the inter -relationship between the elected officials of the Village, the Park District and the youth and students of the Village; and Whereas, it is deemed to be in the best interest of the Village to amend the membership provisions of the Commission by increasing the number of members to eleven (11) and by providing for temporary memberships when needed; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, Illinois as follows: Section 1: That Section 2-13-1 of Chapter 13 Youth Commission of the Village Code be in the same as amended to read as follows: 2-13-1: COMMISSION CREATED; MEMBERSHIP; APPOINTMENT; TERMS: There is hereby established a Youth Commission which shall consist of eleven (11) members, two (2) of whom shall be Village Trustees; two (2) of whom shall be Park District Trustees; two (2) of whom shall be adult residents of the Village and five (5) of whom shall be students representing Elk Grove Village High School, Conant High School, Mead Junior High, Grove Junior High, and Queen of the Rosary schools. The members shall be appointed by the Village President with the consent of the Board of Trustees. The Trustee members and the Park District members shall serve terms of two years commencing May 1, 1997 and May 1, 1999 respectively and be appointed every two years thereafter. The two adult members shall serve four year terms with the exception that the initial terms shall be for two years for one adult and four years for the second adult retroactively commencing May 1, 1997, it being the purpose to stagger the terms C of the two adult members. The student members shall serve for a term of one year commencing May 1'r of each year. Section 2: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval according to law. VOTE: AYES: 6 NAYS: 0 ABSENT: 0 PASSED this 25th day of May , 1999.
