Pursuant to a duly made and approved motion and a majority vote at a regularly scheduled meeting
of the Village President and Board of Trustees on June 16, 2020, this Executive Session was called
to consider review of Land Acquisition.

With the current poor market for hotels, there is concern that the development at the former Elk
Grove Motel will not be able to move forward as planned, with two hotels. Village staff has
proposed to negotiate with the developer to take over the former Motel 6 site on Oakton instead,
to build just one new hotel. With this adjustment, the Village would be able to pursue a different
development, possibly a data center, at the former Elk Grove Motel site. The consensus of the
Committee was to move forward with these negotiations
