AN ORDINANCE AMENDING PARAGRAPH A. OF SECTION 8-2 BOARD OF
APPEALS OF CHAPTER 8 ADMINISTRATION AND ENFORCEMENT OF THE
ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE VILLAGE BY INCREASING THE NUMBER OF
MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF APPEALS TO NINE (9)
WHEREAS, the Village President and Board of Trustees have determined that increas-
ing the number of members of the Zoning Board of Appeals from seven (7) to nine (9) will en-
able said Board to operate more effectively in matters germane to their jurisdiction and otherwise
be in the best interest of the Village; and
WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees have authority without the need for a
public hearing to amend the Zoning Ordinance with respect to administrative provisions unre-
lated to regulations and zoning districts established by the Zoning Ordinance:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees of
the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, Illinois as follows:
Section 1: That Paragraph A. of Section 8-2 Board of Appeals of Chapter 8 of the Zon-
ing Ordinance of the Village of Elk Grove Village be and the same is hereby amended to read as
follows:
A. Board Created; Membership; Terms; Removals and Vacancies: A Board of
Appeals be and is hereby established. The word "Board", when used in this
Section shall be construed to mean the Board of Appeals. The Board shall
consist of nine (9) members appointed by the President with the approval of
the Board of Trustees. The members shall serve for a term of five (5) years.
One of the members of said Board shall be designated by the President and
Board of Trustees as chairman thereof and shall hold his office as chairman
until his successor is appointed. Such chairman, or in his absence, the acting
chairman, may administer oaths and compel the attendance of witnesses.
The President shall have the power to remove any member of the Board for
cause. Any member so removed shall have the right to a hearing before the
President and Board of Trustees with respect to the removal, upon a written
request requesting same. Vacancies upon said Board shall be filled for the
unexpired term of the member whose place has become vacant in the man-
ner herein provided for the appointment of such member.
Section 2: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage
and approval according to law.
