AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE HOURLY RATE FOR PART-TIME POSITIONS OF
CUSTODIAN, PORTER, HEALTH CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER, FIRE INSPECTOR,
AND WATER METER READER; TEMPORARY PART-TIME ADMINISTRATIVE INTERNS
AND SUMMER SEASONAL EMPLOYEE; SCHOOL CROSSING GUARDS, AND CROSS -
SEASONAL OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village
of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, Illinois as follows:
Section 1: That the hourly wage for Custodian, Porter, Health Code Enforcement Officer and Fire
Inspector personnel of the Village of Elk Grove Village shall be and are hereby established as follows:
PROBATIONARY REGULAR
POSITION HOURLY RATE HOURLY RATE
Custodian $20.85 $21.17
Porter $17.92 $19.70
Health Code Enforcement Officer $17.29
Fire Inspector $20.49
Section 2: That the wages for part time Water Meter Readers of the Village of Elk Grove
Village shall be paid on a per -meter read basis, depending on meter type, and is hereby amended as
follows:
METER TYPE PAYMENT PER -METER
Inside Meter $1.28
Glass Block Meter $1.18
Readomatic Meter $ .80
Section 3: That when an inside meter cannot be read because the customer is not at home or a
glass block meter cannot be read due to obstructions of dirt, the Meter Reader shall leave a meter reading
reply card for the customer to complete and return for which the Meter Reader shall be paid a rate of
$0.49 per card.
Section 4: That the hourly salary for Interns for the Village of Elk Grove Village shall be and
are hereby amended as follows:
POSITION DEPARTMENT HOURLY RATE
Intern Health, Community Development $16.71 per hour
Public Works (Engineering)
Intern (Administrative) Village Manager $20.41 per hour
(First 6 months)
$21.27 per hour
(After 6 months)
Section 5: That the hourly salary for Summer Employees of the Village of Elk Grove Village
shall be and are hereby amended as follows:
Rate FY23 Rate FY 24 Rate FY 25
First Summer $13.50 $14.25 $25.00
Second Summer $14.50 $25.25 $16.00
Each Summer After $15.50 $16.25 $17.00
Section 6: That the weekly salaries for School Crossing Guards of the Village of Elk Grove
Village, during the 42 weeks of school, shall be and are hereby established as follows:
PAYMENT FOR CROSSING GUARD PAYMENT FOR CROSSNG GUARD
REPORTING TWO (2) TIMES REPORTING THREE (3) TIMES
PER SCHOOL DAY PER SCHOOL DAY
Probation $176.05 $264.07
(First 6 months)
Regular Status $184.03 $277.89
(Pass probation at 6 months)
*Illinois school districts have returned to in person learning thus this will be the prevailing pay structure
for Crossing Guards. In the event that the Governor or any other recognized authorities issue new
directives for school districts, this pay structure may change to address future needs.
Section 7: That the hourly salary for Cross Seasonal Employees of the Village of Elk Grove
Village shall be and are hereby amended as follows:
Cross -Seasonal $20.85 per hour
(*Note: Position would be full-time for nine (9) months with benefits. It is included in part-time
ordinance since the position will only work 9 months as full-time.)
Section 8: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect as of May 1, 2022 and upon its
passage and approval according to law.
