Meet Chicago Northwest
The Committee heard an informational presentation from Heather Larson, Meet Chicago
Northwest President. The presentation included the mission and focus of Meet Chicago Northwest
and its goal to promote and attract hospitality and tourism related business to the northwest suburbs
region, specifically to Elk Grove Village.
Meet Chicago Northwest represents the northwest suburbs consisting of Arlington Heights, Elk
Grove Village, Itasca, Rolling Meadows, Schaumburg, Streamwood, and Wooddale as a region
and promotes the service area for meetings, conventions, sporting events, group tours and leisure
visits. Meet Chicago Northwest utilizes direct sales and marketing efforts created specific to the
communities in the region in an effort to increase overnight hotel stays, use of conference rooms,
attractions, and other amenities to enhance the local economy.
Meet Chicago Northwest travels to various conventions to promote the Village of Elk Grove and
the northwest suburb region to encourage planners to host their meetings, business trips, and events
in the area. H. Larson shared details on the organization's efforts to support Elk Grove Village in
the previous fiscal year, including 47 unique meeting and event leads, 5,045 potential room nights
at a value of $1,209,246 in potential direct spending. Examples of business and events attracted
through the efforts of Meet Chicago Northwest this past year include student tours, Ultimate
Frisbee Tournament, International Dragon Boat Race, and USA Youth Climbing Competition.
The informational presentation also detailed the impactful marketing efforts created by Meet
Chicago Northwest to highlight local tourism. Examples include partnering with Expedia, spotlight
highlights on the Meet Chicago Northwest website, social media outreach, custom printed visitor
guides by town for hotels and restaurants, and more.
The Committee expressed support for the efforts of Meet Chicago Northwest.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:54 p.m.
