AN ORDINANCE FIXING MAY 11, 1993 AS THE DATE FOR THE
INAUGURATION AND COMMENCEMENT OF TERMS FOR THE
VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE MUNICIPAL OFFICERS
TO BE ELECTED AT THE APRIL 20, 1993 MUNICIPAL ELECTION
WHEREAS, Chapter 65, Paragraph 5/3-2-2, of the Illinois Com-
piled Statutes (1992), provides in part, as follows:
and
"The terms of elected municipal officers shall com-
mence at the first regular or special meeting of the
corporate authorities during the month of April fol-
lowing the proclamation of the results of the regular
municipal election at which such officers were elected,
except as may otherwise be provided by ordinance fixing,
the date for inauguration of newly elected officers of
a municipality. No such ordinance shall fix the time
for inauguration of newly elected officers later than
the first regular or special meeting of the corporate
authorities in the month of May following such election";
WHEREAS, on April 20, 1993 a municipal election will be held
in which the offices of Village President, and three (3) Trustees
of the Village of Elk Grove Village will be duly elected; and
WHEREAS, the Proclamation of the results of said election will
occur on April 27, 1993; and
WHEREAS, the last regularly scheduled Board meeting for April,
1993 is April 27, 1993; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with the aforementioned state statute
the results of the said election will have to be announced at the
first regular meeting of the President and Board of Trustees for
the month of May, 1993; and
WHEREAS, the Village Attorney has recommended to the President
and Board of Trustees that the date of inauguration for the Presi-
dent and the three Trustees elected at the April 20, 1993 municipal
election be fixed for May 11, 1993, the first regular meeting of
the President and Board of Trustees for May, 1993; and
WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees of the Village
of Elk Grove Village, after a public hearing duly held, concurred
in the aforesaid recommendation of the Village Attorney.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of
Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook
and DuPage, Illinois as follows:
Section 1: That the date for inauguration and commencement
of terms for the Village President and three Trustees of the Vil-
lage of Elk Grove Village to be elected at the April 20, 1993 mu-
nicipal election shall be May 11, 1993.
Section 2: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage and approval as provided by law.
