AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 6,SECTION
6-3-6-6 OF THE VILLAGE CODE PERTAINING
TO PARKING FACILITIES FOR THE HANDICAPPED
(INCREASE IN FINE FROM $50.00 to $100.00)
BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees of the
Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, Illinois as
follows:
Section 1: That Paragraphs C and F, of Section 6-3-6-6, Parking
Facilities for the Handicapped or Disabled, be and the same are hereby
amended to read as follows:
C. Specifications and Location of parking Spaces:
Each handicapped parking space shall be a
minimum of sixteen (16') feet wide and shall
be marked to indicate that they are reserved
for the handicapped or disabled using the
international symbol for accessibility or such
other sign that shall be in conformance with State
specifications as promulgated under 625 Illinois Compiled
Statutes 5/11-301 of the Illinois Vehicle Code. Such
sign or sign attachment thereto shall post a warning
to motorist that they are subject to a One -hundred
($100.00) Dollar fine for unlawful use of a
handicapped parking space.
The location of the handicapped parking spaces
and the manner in which the identification sign
is affixed or posted must be approved by the
Department of Engineering and Community Development
of the Village. All such signs shall be purchased,
installed and maintained by the owners of the
property where the signs are located.
F. Penalty: Any person violating any of the provisions of

this Section 6-3-6-6 shall be subject to a fine of not
less than one hundred dollars ($100.00) nor more than two
hundred dollars ($200.00) for each offense, which fine or
penalty shall be in addition to any cost or charges
connected with the removal or storage of such motor
vehicle authorized pursuant to 625 Illinois Compiled
Statutes. 5/11-1302(A) of the Illinois Vehicle Code.
Section 2: That the Village Clerk is hereby authorized to
publish this Ordinance in pamphlet form.
Section 3: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after January 1, 1994 and upon its passage, approval
and publication according to law.
