AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 15.003: FEES, AND 15.008: PENALTY
OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE (VEHICLES)
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees
of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage,
Illinois as follows:
Section 1: That section 15.003, Fees, be and the same is hereby
amended to read as follows:
Motor bicycle and scooter
(150 cc piston displacement or less) $ 15.00
Motorcycle
(over 150 cc piston displacement) $ 20.00
Passenger car $ 20.00
Dealer plate $ 20.00
Recreational vehicle $ 25.00
Truck - having a gross weight less than
or equal to 8,000 pounds, including the weight
of the vehicle and maximum load $ 40.00
Truck - having a gross weight of more than
8,000 pounds and less than 16,001 pounds,
including the weight of the vehicle and
maximum load $ 65.00
Truck - having a gross weight of more than
16,000 pounds and less than 32,001 pounds,
including the weight of the vehicle and
maximum load $ 90.00
Truck - having a gross weight of more than
32,000 pounds and less than 50,001 pounds,
including the weight of the vehicle and
maximum load $105.00
Truck - having a gross weight of more than
50,000 pounds and less than 64,001 pounds,
including the weight of the vehicle and
maximum load $135.00
Truck - having a gross weight of more than
64,000 pounds, including the weight of the
vehicle and maximum load $145.00
The horsepower and weight shall be determined in the manner prescribed by
Statute for determining these factors for the purpose of fixing State
license fees.
Any person, firm or corporation whose vehicle's windshield has been
destroyed and thereby damaging the license sticker or whose vehicle has
been replaced with a vehicle in the same fee category within the same
licensing year may obtain a replacement license sticker by payment of a
transfer fee of $2.00 to the Finance Department. If a vehicle is replaced
by a vehicle in a higher fee category, then the transfer fee shall be
increased by the incremental amount of the license fee. At no time will a
transfer result in a refund of the original fee paid. Any individual
requesting a transfer shall provide such evidence as is requested by the
Finance Department showing proof of license fee payment within the same
licensing year.
Notwithstanding the provisions of this Chapter, the vehicle license fee for
a vehicle registered to a handicapped individual, disabled veteran, and
individuals sixty-five (65) years of age and over shall be $.50 per year.
This reduced rate is for noncommercial vehicles and excludes trucks having
a gross weight of more than 8,000 pounds and vehicles with dealer plates.
Any individual requesting such a reduced rate shall provide such evidence
as is requested by the Finance Department evidencing ownership of the
licensed vehicle, handicapped status, disabled veteran status, and/or age.
There shall be a maximum limit of two (2) reduced rate licenses issued to
any one household. For households with multiple vehicles, the reduced rate
shall be applied to the vehicles with the lowest license fee.
Section 2: That section 15.008, penalty, be and the same is hereby
amended to read as follows:
Any person, firm or corporation violating the requirements of this
Chapter shall be subject to a fine according to the following schedule.

50,001 pounds, including the weight
of the vehicle and maximum load $105.00 $500.00
Truck - having a gross weight of
more than 50,000 pounds and less than
64,001 pounds, including the weight
of the vehicle and maximum load $135.00 $500.00
Truck - having a gross weight of
more than 64,000 pounds, including the
weight of the vehicle and maximum load $145.00 $500.00
A separate offense shall be deemed committed for each day during which a
violation occurs or continues.
Section 3: That the Village Clerk be and is hereby directed to
publish this Ordinance in Pamphlet Form.
Section 4: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect for
license fees due and payable for the next licensing year which begins
the first day of June, 1992.
