In order to purchase the site of the Vulcan rock crushing facility along I-90, the Village needs to
secure a new site to relocate the business. A suitable site has been identified on Elmhurst Road,
just south of the Elmhurst/I-90 interchange. The owner of the proposed site is not very interested
in moving, which may drive up the price of the land. The property is not on the market, but he
has indicated that he has another offer of $5.5 million. It is a hot market for industrial property,
especially so close to an interchange.
There are still a number of questions on this deal. It's likely necessary to relocate the rock
crushing facility to get any data center into the former Elk Grove Hotel site. The data center who
is meeting with the Village this week about purchasing former Elk Grove Hotel site may be
willing to chip in for the relocation cost for Vulcan, especially if they then get to utilize the
former Vulcan site. More details will be available after the meeting on Thursday.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:40 pm.
