HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCE - 2182 - 8/27/1991 - PEDDLERS/AMEND CODEORDINANCE NO. 2182 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 18, ARTICLE XXXVII, PEDDLERS OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE NOW, BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, Illinois as follows: Section 1: That Chapter 18, Article XXXVII, Peddlers, of the Municipal Code of the Village be and the same is hereby amended by renumbering Section 18.3705, Inspections, to Section 18.3707; and be further amended by adding thereto a new Section 18.3705, Policy on Peddlers, to read as follows: Every person desiring to secure the protection intended to be provided by the regulations pertaining to peddling contained in this Ordinance, shall comply with the following directions to wit: Notice of the determination by the occupant of giving invitation to peddlers, or the refusal of invitation to peddlers, to any residence, shall be given in the manner following: A weatherproof card, approximately three inches by four inches in size, shall be exhibited upon or near the main entrance door to the residence, indicating the determination by the occupant, containing the applicable words, as follows: "NO PEDDLERS INVITED" or "NO SOLICITORS INVITED" or "NO SOLICITORS AND/OR PEDDLERS INVITED" Such card so exhibited shall constitute sufficient notice to any peddler of the determination by the occupant of the residence of the information contained thereon. Section 2: That Article XXXVII, Peddlers, of the Municipal Code of the Village be and the same is hereby amended by adding thereto Section 18.3706, Duty of Peddlers, to read as follows: It shall be the duty of every peddler upon going onto any premises in the Municipality to first examine if the Notice provided for in Section 2 of this Ordinance, if any is attached, and be governed by the statement contained on the notice. If the notice states, "NO PEDDLERS INVITED" or "NO SOLICITORS INVITED" or "NO SOLICITORS AND/OR PEDDLERS INVITED", than the peddler, whether licensed or not shall immediately and peacefully depart from the premises. -1- Any peddler who has gained entrance to any residence, whether invited or not, shall immediately and peacefully depart from the premises when requested to do so by the occupant. Section 4: That the Village Clerk is hereby authorized to publish this Ordinance in pamphlet form. Section 5: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication according to law. VOTES: AYES: 6 PASSED this APPROVED this ATTEST: Patricia S.
