AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE REGULATION OF TEMPORARY
ELECTION CAMPAIGN SIGNS
BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees of
the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage,
Illinois as follows:
Section 1: That Section 12.004, GENERAL PROVISIONS AND
RESTRICTIONS APPLYING TO ALL DISTRICTS of Chapter XII SIGNS
AND AWNINGS of the Municipal Code of the Village of Elk Grove
Village be and the same is hereby amended by adding thereto
the following:
M. CAMPAIGN SIGNS
1. The President and Board of Trustees may grant
a Permit to any person, firm, corporation
or political party to place temporary election
campaign signs on public or private property.
The Permit shall designate the size of any
such signs permitted, restrictions as to loca-
tion as well as such other conditions, including
the payment of a bond, as are deemed to be
in the best interest of the Village. Any
Permit granted pursuant to this Section shall
automatically expire on the eighth (8th) day
following the election for which such Tem-
porary Sign Permit is requested.
2. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm,
corporation or political party to place, erect
or install or to cause or allow the placement
of campaign signs without a Permit or to fail
to remove permitted signs upon the automatic
expiration of said Permit and any violation
shall subject the offending party to a penalty
as set forth in Section 12.008 of this Article.
In addition to any such penalty, the Village
shall have the authority to remove any such
sign installed or placed without a Permit
or which otherwise violates the provisions
of this Section. All removal costs shall
be assessed against the permittee and may,
where applicable, be taken out of any bond
deposit with the Village.
Section 2: Any person, firm or corporation violating any
of the provisions or failing to comply with any provision of
this Ordinance shall be subject to a fine of not less than
Twenty -Five ($25.00) Dollars nor more than Five Hundred ($500.00)
Dollars for each offense and a separate offense shall be deemed
committed on each day during or on which a violation or failure
to comply occurs or continues to exist.
Section 3: That the Village Clerk is authorized to publish
this Ordinance in pamphlet form.
Section 4: That this Ordinance shall be in full force
and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication
according to law.
