HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCE - 2994 - 5/11/2004 - FIRE & POLICE COMMISSIONORDINANCE NO. 2994 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE ELK GROVE VILLAGE FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSION TO AMEND ITS FACT SHEETS PERTAINING TO PREHIRING QUALIFICATIONS CONCERNING LICENSED PARAMEDICS AND AUTHORIZING THE ESTABLISHMENT OFA $20.00 APPLICATION PROCESSING FEE FOR CANDIDATES TO THE FIRE AND POLICE DEPARTMENTS WHEREAS, the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village has been advised by the Fire and Police Commission that they would like to deem licensed paramedics qualified for hiring to the Elk Grove Village Fin: Department as an alternative or in lieu of the requirement of 60 college credit hours; and WHEREAS, the Fire and Police Commission has further recommended to the Village Board the establishment of a $20.00 application processing fee for candidates to the Fire and Police Departments; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, after having reviewed the recommendation of said Fire and Police Commission, find and believe that it is in the best interest of the Village, as a home rule municipality, to adopt the changes as recommended. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, Illinois as follows: Section 1: That the Village of Elk Grove Village, in its capacity as a home rule municipality as defined and set forth in the Constitution of the State of Illinois, hereby authorizes the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners of the Village of Elk Grove Village to amend its Rules and Regulations including its Fact Sheets concerning eligibility for hiring to permit licensed paramedics to be deemed eligible as candidates for the Elk Grove Village Fire Department as an alternative to the current requirement for 60 college credit hours. In addition, the Village hereby authorizes the Fine and Police Commission to charge a $20.00 application processing fee for all candidates to the Fire and Police Departments. Section 2: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval according to law. VOTE: AYES: 6 NAYS: 0 ABSENT: 0 PASSED this 11 ''day of May 2004.
