AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE XLII, TAXICABS, OF
CHAPTER 18, LICENSES OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE
VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE
BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village
of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, Illinois, as follows:
Section 1: That Section 18.4208, Application, be and the same is
hereby amended to read as follows:
Application for a taxicab license authorized by the
Public Vehicle Commission's Certificate of Authority
shall be made in writing to the Finance Department and
signed and sworn to by the applicant, or, if the applicant
is a corporation, by its duly authorized agent upon forms
provided by the Finance Department. The application shall
contain the full name, business address and residence
address of the applicant and the business telephone number.
No such license shall be issued without proof of inspection,
insurance and such other requirements as may be deemed
appropriate by the Public Vehicle Commission as hereinafter
provided.
Section 2: That Section 18.4209, Insurance, be and the same is
hereby amended by inserting the words, "Finance Department" where Village
Clerk is indicated.
Section 3: That Section 18.4221, Fee, be and the same is hereby
amended by inserting the word, "December" where May is indicated.
Section 4: That Article XLII, Taxicabs, be and the same is hereby
amended by renumbering present Sections 18.4222, 18.4223 and 18.4224 to
Sections 18.4223, 18.4224 and 18.4225, respectively, and adding as a new
paragraph 18.4222, the following:
18.4222 - Term of Licenses/Permits.
All licenses and permits shall commence on the first day of
January and expire on the 31st day of December of each year.
When an applicant of a new business requires a license
or permit after the expiration of six (6) months (July 1)
of the current license year, the fee shall be fifty (50)
percent of the annual fee as set forth in Article III,
Section 18.301 and Section 18.4221.
Section 5: That any Taxicab Business Licenses and/or Operators
Permits issued for the interim period beginning June 1, 1990 and expiring
on December 31, 1990 will carry the following fees:
Taxicab Business License $12.50
Taxicab License per Vehicle $ 7.50
New Operators Permit $ 7.50
Renewal Operators Permit $ 5.00
The fee for all such annual licenses valid on or after January 1, 1991 will
be at the rate as set forth in the Municipal Code.
Section 6: Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the
provisions of this Ordinance shall be subject to a fine of not less than
Ten ($10.00) Dollars nor more than Five Hundred ($500.00) Dollars for each
and every offense, and a separate offense shall be deemed committed on each
day during or on which a violation occurs or continues.
Section 7: The Village Clerk is hereby authorized to publish this
Ordinance in Pamphlet Form.
Section S: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage, approval and publication according to law.
