AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER V, SECTION 5.003, OFFICE OF
POLICE CHIEF AND DIVISION COMMANDER; AND CHAPTER VI, SECTION
6.102 MEMBERS OF FIRE DEPARTMENT OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF
THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE
BE IT ORDAINED, by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village
of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, Illinois as follows:
Section 1: That paragraph 2 of Section 5.003, Office of Police
Chief and Division Commander, of the Municipal Code of the Village of Elk
Grove Village be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
There is also created two positions of Division Commanders
who are to be appointed by the Chief of Police with the
approval of the Village Manager. A Division Commander shall
retain his rank and status while serving as Division Commander
and shall revert to such rank and status when the appointment to
the Division Commander position has ended.
Section 2: That Section 6.102, Members of Department, of the
Municipal Code of the Village of Elk Grove Village be and the same is
hereby amended to read as follows:
The Fire Chief shall be appointed by the Village President
with the advice and consent of the Board of Trustees,
provided that if the person appointed Chief was at the time
of such promotion a member of the Department, he shall retain
his status and rank while serving as Chief and shall revert to
such status and rank when his appointment as Chief has ended.
The Deputy Fire Chief shall be appointed by the Fire Chief
with the approval of the Village Manager and shall have
such duties as the Fire Chief in his absence and such other
duties as may be assigned him by the Fire Chief.
The Deputy Fire Chief shall retain his rank and status while
serving as Deputy Fire Chief and shall revert to such rank
and status when the appointment to the Deputy Fire Chief
position has ended. r
Other members of the Fire Department shall be appointed by the
Board of Fire and Police Commissioners of the Village,of Elk
Grove Village in accordance with the Statutes.
Section 3: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage and approval according to law.
