HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCE - 1974 - 8/9/1988 - HANDICAPPED PARKING FACILITIESORDINANCE 1974 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 14.514 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE PERTAINING TO PARKING FACILITIES FOR THE HANDICAPPED BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and Du Page, Illinois as follows: Section 1: That Paragraph C, of Section 14.514, Parking Facilities for the Handicapped/Prohibited Parking, be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: C. Each handicapped parking space shall be a minimum of sixteen (16') feet wide and shall be marked to indicate that they are reserved for the handicapped or disabled using the international symbol for accessibility or such other sign that shall be in conformance with State specifications as promulgated under Section 11.301 of the Illinois Vehicle Code. Such sign or sign attachment thereto shall post a warning to motorist that they are subject to a Fifty ($50.00) Dollar fine for unlawful use of a handicapped parking space. The location of the handicapped parking spaces and the manner in which the identification sign is affixed or posted must be approved by the Building Department of the Village of Elk Grove Village. All such signs shall be purchased, installed and maintained by the owners of the property where the signs are located. Section 2: That the Village Clerk is hereby authorized to publish this Ordinance in pamphlet form. Section 3: That any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this Ordinance shall be fined not less than Fifty ($50.00) Dollars nor more than Two Hundred ($200.00) Dollars for each offense. Section 4: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication according to law.
