AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE VILLAGE
BY PROVIDING FOR THE REGULATION OF AUTOMOBILE REPAIR GARAGES
WHEREAS, the Plan Commission of the Village of Elk Grove
village at public meeting duly called and held according to
law considered the Petition of O'Hare International Auto Body,
Inc. for a text amendment of various sections of the Zoning
ordinance to permit and regulate automobile repair garages within
the provisions of said Zoning Ordinance; and
WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees of the Village
of Elk Grove Village after having considered the recommendation
and finding of said Plan Commission find and believe it to be
in the best interest of the Village that the Zoning Ordinance
be amended in accordance with the recommendation of the Plan
Commission.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board
of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of
Cook and DuPage, Illinois as follows:
Section 1: That Section 9.12 of Article IX DEFINITIONS
of the Zoning Ordinance be and the same is hereby amended by
adding thereto the following:
9.12 DEFINITIONS
AUTOMOBILE REPAIR GARAGE. Any building or
part thereof where automotive vehicles are
painted, repaired, rebuilt or reconstructed
for compensation, excepting therefrom auto-
mobile service stations.
AUTOMOBILE SERVICE STATION. Any building
or premises used for dispensing, sale or
offering for sale at retail to the public,
gasoline stored only in underground tanks,
kerosene, lubricating oil or grease for the
operation of automobiles and including the
sale and installation of tires, mufflers,
batteries, tune-ups and other accessories
and services for automobiles, but not in-
cluding painting, rebuilding or reconstruc-
ting; and including washing of automobiles
where no production line methods are employed.
Section 2: That Section 5.85 SPECIAL USES IN ALL INDUSTRIAL
DISTRICTS be and the same is hereby amended by adding thereto
the following:

E. Automobile repair garages, provided all
open storage areas for automotive vehi-
cles waiting to be serviced shall be
located behind the principal building
and screened by a six (6') foot solid
fence or wall. No vehicle shall be
stored for more than thirty (30) days
and no vehicle shall be disassembled
on the site except for the purposes of
repairing or replacement of damaged or
unusable components thereof. No vehi-
cle or parts thereof shall be rented,
leased, sold or auctioned from the site.
Section 3: That Section 3.96 SPACE REQUIRED be amended
by adding thereto the following:

B. (18) Automobile Repair Garaqe
1.5 storage spaces shall be pro-
vided for each repair station plus
one (1) parking space for each em-
ployee, each enclosed repair station
shall constitute a storage space for
the purposes of meeting this standard.

Section 4: That Section 5.62 PERMITTED USES of the Zoning
Ordinance be and the same is hereby amended by adding thereto
the following:
5.62 B. (10) Automobile Reoair Garaaes
Section 5: That this Ordinance shall be in full force
and effect from and after its passage and approval according
to law.
