AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE XI -
INOPERATIVE MOTOR VEHICLES OF CHAPTER 14
OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE
BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees of
the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage,
Illinois as follows:
Section 1: That Section 14.1101 - Definition.) of Article
XI - Inoperative Motor Vehicles of the Municipal Code of the
Village of Elk Grove Village be and the same is hereby amended
to read as follows:
14.1101 Definition.) Inoperable Motor Vehicle as
used in this Article shall mean any motor vehicle from which,
for a period of at least seven (7) days, the engine, wheels,
or other parts have been removed, or on which the engine, wheels
or other parts have been altered, damaged or otherwise so treated
that the vehicle is incapable of being driven under its own
motor power.
Section 2: That Section 14.1103 - Notice.) of Article
XI Inoperative Motor Vehicles of the Municipal Code of the Village
of Elk Grove Village be and the same is hereby amended to read
as follows:
14.1103 Notice.) When the Police Department is advised
or otherwise becomes aware of the existence of an inoperable
motor vehicle, said Department shall immediately notify and
advise the owner of the vehicle or the owner of the property
on which the vehicle is located to remove the vehicle or otherwise
cause said vehicle to be in an operating condition within fifteen
(15) days from the date the notice is issued.
Section 3: Any person, firm or corporation violating any
of the provisions of this Ordinance shall be subject to a fine
of not less than Twenty -Five ($25.00) Dollars nor more than
Five Hundred ($500.00) Dollars for each offensive and a separate
offensive shall be deemed committed on each day during or on
which the violation occurs or continues to exist.
Section 4: That this Ordinance shall be in full force
and effect from and after its passage and approval according
to law.
