HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCE - 1877 - 3/24/1987 - HANDICAPPED/PROHIBITIVE PARKINGORDINANCE NO. 1877 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 14.514 - PARKING FACILITIES FOR THE HANDICAPPED/PROHIBITIVE PARKING - OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE BE IT ORDAINED, by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage Illinois as follows: Section 1: That Paragraphs D. and E. of Section 14.514 Parking Facilities for the Handicapped/Prohibitive Parking be and the same are hereby amended to read as follows: D. Any person, firm or corporation who complies with the provisions of this ordinance shall not be deemed to be in violation of other applicable parking ordinances with respect to the number of parking stalls required, if such violation is caused or directly related to compliance with the conditions hereof. E. It shall be unlawful for any person to park, stand or otherwise allow a vehicle to be in a stopped position if said vehicle is not bearing registration plates, permits, or decals issued to a handicapped person pursuant to Sections 3-616 or 11.1301.2 of the Illinois Vehicle Code, or to a dis- abled veteran pursuant to Section 3-609 of said Code, in any parking place, including any private or public off-street parking facility, specifically designated as a handicapped parking area by the posting of a sign in conformance with the provisions of this Section. The exemptions above stated are only applicable to the person to whom the special registration plates, special decal or devise were issued and to qualified operators acting under the express direction of a handicapped or disabled person while the handicapped or disabled person is present. Section 2: That any person violating any of the provisions of this Ordinance shall be subject to a fine of not less than FIFTY ($50.00) Dollars nor more than 7WO HUNDRED ($200.00) Dollars for each offense, which fine or penalty shall be in addition to any cost or charges connected with the removal or storage of such motor vehicle authorized pursuant to Chapter 95h Section 11.1302A of the Illinois Vehicle Code. Section 3: That the Village Clerk is hereby authorized to publish this Ordinance in pamphlet form. Section 4: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication according to law. VOTES: AYES: 6_ NAYS: 0 ABSENT: 0 APPROVED: Charles J.
