2020 Census
T. Le provided an update on the 2020 Census, and shared the ways in the Census Bureau is working
to reach all residents of the United States with information on why the census is important and
how they can respond.
T. Le stated that every ten years, the U.S. constitution requires that every resident of the U.S. be
counted where they live. The census is used to distribute billions of dollars in federal funding.
Census data is also used to redraw legislative districts to determine representation.
T. Le stated that it is important for residents to be aware that responding to the census is mandatory.
Privacy is protected by the Census Bureau, and it is actually against the law for the Census Bureau
to publicly release responses in any way that could identify individuals or their households.
Residents will be able to respond online, by phone, or by paper.
T. Le noted that the Census is currently recruiting for local positions to assist with the census
efforts, and encouraged interested individuals to apply.
The Committee thanked T. Le for coming out to educate the community about the Census.
ENCLAVE Update
J. Dallas provided an update on programs at the ENCLAVE during 2019 which have supported
the Elk Grove Village business community. He shared information about regular visitors and
tours, and also explained the various classes and workshops provided at the ENLCAVE.
J. Dallas shared information on updates to the facility and offerings available to ENCLAVE
members. He also shared about how the ENCLAVE has been serving as a resource for
economic development.
The Committee thanked J. Dallas for sharing an update on the programs and offerings provided
by ENCLAVE.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:57 p.m.
