AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 18.4213 OF THE MUNICIPAL
CODE THEREBY AMENDING THE RATES CHARGED FOR TAXI
CAB SERVICE WITHIN THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE
WHEREAS, the Public Vehicle Commission of the Village
of Elk Grove Village at a public meeting duly called and held
consider the question of increasing the rates charged for taxi
cab service within the Village of Elk Grove Village; and
WHEREAS, the Public Vehicle Commission after hearing testimony
of the petitioner and after due deliberation are of the opinion
that the rates for taxi cab service should be increased as requested.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board
of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of
Cook and DuPage, Illinois, as follows:
Section 1: That Section 18.4213 - Rates of the Municipal
Code of the Village of Elk Grove Village be and the same is
hereby amended to read as follows:
18.4213 - Rates. The charges for taxi cab service
shall not exceed the following:
a. Two dollars for the first mile or fraction thereof.
b. Twelve (.12C) cents for each exceeding one-tenth
of a mile or a fraction thereof.
C. Ten (.10C) cents for each additional passenger
carried on a trip.
d. Forty (.40C) cents for each ninety (90) seconds
of waiting time.
e. Twenty-five (.25C) cents for parcel delivery other
than for normal luggage carried.
The above rates shall not apply to qualifying physically
handicapped persons or qualified senior citizens under
the Senior Citizen Cab Fare Program.
Section 2: That Section 18.4223 - Penalty of the Municipal
Code shall be amended to read as follows:
18.4223 - Penalty. Any person, firm or corporation
who shall violate any of the provisions of this
article shall be fined not less than Twenty-five
($25.00) dollars nor more than Five Hundred ($500.00)
dollars for each and every offense, and a separate
offense shall be deemed committed on each day during
or on which a violation occurs or continues.
Section 3: Any person, firm or corporation violating
any of the provisions of this Ordinance shall be subject to
a fine not less than Twenty-five ($25.00) dollars nor more than
Five Hundred ($500.00) dollars for each and every offense, and
a separate offense shall be deemed committed on each day during
or on which a violation occurs or continues.
Section 4: That the Village Clerk is hereby authorized
to publish this Ordinance in pamphlet form.
Section 5: That this Ordinance shall be in full force
and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication
according to law.
