AN ORDINANCE RENAMING J. F. KENNEDY BOULEVARD BETWEEN BRANTWOOD
AVENUE AND ELK GROVE BOULEVARD TO REVEREND MORRISON BOULEVARD
WHEREAS, Reverend J. Ward Morrison was one of the first Clergymen
to locate in the Village of Elk Grove Village and provided the leadership
and inspiration to build the Queen of the Rosary Parish, Rectory and School;
and
WHEREAS, Reverend Morrison was a friend to many people in Elk Grove
Village and his love of and efforts on behalf of children and the poor are
legendary; and
WHEREAS, in addition to his religious leadership, Reverend Morrison
devoted a great deal of time, talent and effort to further the efforts of
many civic and community organizations in the Village including serving
as Chaplain of the Fire Department for many years; and
WHEREAS, in 1984, Reverend Morrison celebrated his fiftieth (50th)
year in the Priesthood, almost half of which was spent in and for the
Village of Elk Grove Village and its residents; and
WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees deem it fitting and
proper to recognize and honor the many years of dedicated service Reverend
Morrison has rendered to the Village as set forth above and have, therefore,
decided to change the name of J. F. Kennedy Boulevard between Elk Grove
Boulevard and Brantwood Avenue to the Reverend Morrison Boulevard.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the President and Board of Trustees
of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Cook and DuPage Counties, Illinois as
follows:
Section 1:,� That the name of the road now known as J. F. Kennedy
Boulevard between.Brantwood Avenue and Elk Grove Boulevard be and is
hereby changed to Reverend Morrison Boulevard within the corporate
borders of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Cook and DuPage Counties,
Illinois.
Section 2: That the Village Clerk be and is hereby directed to
send written notice of the change of the name of said street by certified
or registered mail to all Election Authorities having jurisdiction in
the area in which the subject road now exists and United States Post
Office Branch serving the subject area.
Section 3: That the name change shall be effective November 1,
1984, which date shall be more than thirty (30) days after the Election
Authorities and Post Office Branch referred to herein have been notified
of the change of name.
Section 4: That the Village Clerk is hereby directed to cause the
name change provided for herein to be reflected on the Official Maps of
the Village.
Section 5: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage, approval and publication according to law.
