HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCE - 1690 - 1/8/1985 - PARKING FACILITIES FOR HANDICAPPEDORDINANCE NO. 1690 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SEC. 14.514 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE PERTAINING TO PARKING FACILITIES FOR THE HANDICAPPED BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, Illinois as follows: Section 1: That paragraph C of Sec. 14.514 of the Municipal Code be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: C. Each handicapped parking space shall be a minimum of fifteen (15') feet wide and shall be marked to indicate that they are reserved for the handicapped or disabled using the international symbol for accessibiliity or such other sign that shall be in conformance with State specifications as promulgated under Sec. 11.301 of the Illinois Vehicle Code. The location of the handicapped parking spaces and the manner in which the identification sign is affixed or posted must be approved by the Building Department of the Village of Elk Grove Village. All such signs shall be purchased, installed and maintained by the owners of the property where the signs are located. Section 2: That paragraph D of Sec. 14.514 of the Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: D. Any person, firm or corporation who complies with the provisions of this Ordinance shall not be deemed to be in violation of other applicable parking ordinances with respect to the number of parking stalls required. If such violation is caused or directly related to compliance with the conditions hereof. Section 3: That Sec. 14.514 of the Municipal Code is further amended by adding thereto the following: E. It shall be unlawful for any person to park, stand or otherwise allow a vehicle to be in a stopped position if said vehicle is not bearing registration plates, permits, or decals issued to a handicapped person pur- suant to Secs. 3-616 or 11.1301.2, or to a disabled veteran pursuant to Sec. 3-609 of the Illinois Vehicle Code. In any parking place, including any private or public off- street parking facility, specifically desig- nated as a handicapped parking area by the posting of a sign in conformance with the provisions of this Section. F. Penalty. Any person violating any of the provisions of this Section shall be subject to a fine of not less than Fifty ($50.00) Dollars nor more than Two Hundred ($200.00) Dollars for each offense, which fine or penalty shall be in addition to any cost or charges connected with the removal or storage of such motor vehicle authorized pursuant to Chapter 95�, Sec. 11.1302(A) of the Illinois Vehicle Code. Section 3: That Sec. 14., Penalty, of the Municipal Code be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: 14.515. Any person, firm or corporation viola- ting any of the provisions of this Article, unless a separate penalty is specifically provided, shall be subject to a fine or not less than Ten ($10.00) Dollars nor more than Two Hundred ($200.00) Dollars for each offense. Section 4: That the Village Clerk is hereby authorized to publish this Ordinance in pamphlet form. Section 5: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication according to law. d= VOTES: AYES NAYS: ABSENT: 0 ATTEST: Patricia S.
