HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCE - 1545 - 11/9/1982 - ANIMAL LICENSE/AMEND CODEORDINANCE NO. 1545 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE II, SECTIONS 17.201, 17.202 AND 17.206; ARTICLE V, SECTION 17.501 01= THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Cook and DuPage Counties, as follows: Section l: That Article II, Section 17.201, License, of the Municipal Code of the Village of Elk Grove Village be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: 17.201 License. It shall be unlawful for any person to be the owner of a dog or cat within the Village of Elk Grove Village unless he/she shall procure a license therefor. Said license shall be obtained and the license fee shall be due on or before the first day of June of each year and the license shall be for a one year period, provided; that, for the period commencing January 1, 1983,and terminating May 31, 1984, license fees shall be payable in advance of the first day of January of 1983 and be in an amount equal to One Hundred Fifty (150%) percent of those rates as set forth in Section 17.202 herein. Thereafter the provisions herein for annual licenses commencing on June 1st of each year shall be applicable. Any person who aquires a dog or cat during the licensing year shall be required to obtain a license within 30 days of acquiring the animal, except for a dog or cat less than four (4) months old on that day, in which case a license shall be procured when the dog or cat attains permit age. Section 2: That Article II, Section 17.202, License Applications and Fees-, of the Municipal Code of the Village of Elk Grove Village be and the same is hereby amended by deleting the words "VILLAGE CLERK" and inserting the words "FINANCE DEPARTMENT" Section 3: That Article II, Section 17.206, Transfer of License Prohibited, of the Municipal Code of the Village of Elk Grove Village be and the same is hereby amended as follows: 17.206 Transfer of License Prohibited. Each license issued is for the specific pet and owner listed on the application form. The transfer of a license from one person to another person or from one pet to another shall be prohibited. Section 4: That Article II, Section 17.501, Penalties, of the Municipal Code of the Village of Elk Grove Village be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: 17.501 Penalty. Any person, firm or corporation violating any provisions of this Chapter unless otherwise provided, shall be fined not less than Twenty Five ($25.00) Dollars nor more than Five Hundred ($500.00) Dollars for each offense. A separate offense shall be deemed committed on each day during, on, or which a violation occurs or continues. Section 5: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from anc after its passage, approval and pub! ;catien according to law.
