HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCE - 1304 - 5/22/1979 - CREATING & ESTABLISH PW DEPTORDINANCE NO. 1304 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE BY ADDING A CHAPTER THERETO CREATING AND ESTABLISHING A DEPART- MENT OF PUBLIC WORKS BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DUPage, Illinois, as follows: That the Municipal Code of the Village of Elk Grove Village be and the same is hereby amended by adding thereto a new chapter, which chapter shall read as follows: 6(b) Department of Public Works. 6(b)101 There is hereby created and established a Department of the Municipal Government of the Village of Elk Grove Village which shall be known as the Department of Public Works. Said Department shall consist of the Director of Public Works, the Superintendent of Water and Sewer, the Superintendent of Streets and Vehicle Maintenance, the Foreman of Water, the Foreman of Sewer, the Foreman of Streets, the Foreman of Vehicle Maintenance, and such other officers or employees as designated by the Board of Trustees. The Department of Public Works shall be responsible for the maintenance, operation and con- trol of the Village water and sewer systems, the public streets and rights-of-way and the maintenance of Village vehicles. 6(b)102 There is hereby created the office of Director of Public Works who shall be appointed by the Village Manager and shall be under the direction and supervision of the Village Manager. The Director of Public Works shall have the management and control of all matters and things pertaining to said depart- ment subject to said control and supervision of the Village Manager. 6(b) 103 Superintendent of Water and Sewer. The Superintendent of Water and Sewer shall be appointed by the Village Manager and shall be under the direc- tion and supervision of the Director of Public Works and shall have supervision over the Foreman of Water and the Foreman of Sewer and shall perform all matters and duties as may be required of him by the Director of Public Works. 6(b)104 Superintendent of Streets and Vehicle Main- tenance. The Superintendent of Streets and Vehicle Maintenance shall be appointed by the Village Manager and shall be under the direction of the Director of Public Works and shall have supervision over the Fore- man of Streets and the Foreman of Vehicle Maintenance and perform all matters and duties as may be required of him by the Director of Public Works. 6(b) 105 Foreman of Water. The Foreman of Water shall be appointed by the Village Manager and shall be under the supervision of the Superintendent of Water and Sewer and shall perform all duties as may be required of him by the Superintendent of Water and Sewer. 6(b) 106 Foreman of Sewer. The Foreman of Sewer shall be appointed by the Village Manager and shall be under the supervision of the Superintendent of Water and Sewer and shall perform all duties as may be required of him by the Superintendent of Water and Sewer. 6(b) 107 Foreman of Streets. The Foreman of Streets shall be appointed by the Village Manager and shall be under the supervision of the Superintendent of Streets and Vehicle Maintenance and shall perform all duties as may be required of him by the Superintendent of Streets and Vehicle Maintenance. 6(b) 108 Foreman of Vehicle Maintenance. The Foreman of Vehicle Maintenance shall be appointed by the Village Manager and shall be under the supervision of the Superintendent of Streets and Vehicle Maintenance and shall perform all duties as may be required of him by the Super- intendent of Streets and Vehicle Maintenance. Section 2: That Article 4, Foreman of Public Works of Chapter 4 of the Municipal Code and Article 9, Superintendent of the Water and Sewer Department of Chapter 4 of the Municipal Code are hereby repealed.
