AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE 42
TAXI CABS OF CHAPTER 18 OF THE
MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF
ELK GROVE VILLAGE, THEREBY AMENDING
THE CHARGES FOR TAXI CAB SERVICE
WITHIN THE VILLAGE
BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees of the
Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, Illinois
as follows:
Section 1: That Section 18.4205 Certificate of Authority -
Number of Licenses be amended so as to read as follows:
18.4205 Certificate of Authority - Number of Licenses. The
Public Vehicle Commission, pursuant to a Public Hearing, shall
authorize one or more Certificates of Authority to qualified Taxi
Cab Companies. The selection of company or companies receiving the
Certificate of Authority shall be based on all evidence presented at
the Public Hearing and shall be in the sole discretion of the Public
Vehicle Commission.
The Certificate of Authority shall set forth the number of
licenses each company shall be issued, said number being based upon
the existing public need and demand for taxi cab service, the number
of licenses requested by the individual companies and the ability of
the companies to operate the number requested. The total number
of licenses issued shall be in the sole discretion of the Public
Vehicle Commission, there being no limitation as to number. The Public
Vehicle Commission retains the right to modify or terminate
the Certificate of Authority for such cause and in such manner as
hereinafter set forth.
Section 2: That Section 18.4213 Rates of the Municipal Code is
hereby amended to read as follows:
18.4213 Rates. The charges for Taxi Cab Service shall not exceed
90 cents for the first 1/3 mile or portion thereof, and 10 cents for
each succeeding 1/9 mile or fraction thereof, providing that if more
than one passenger is carried on a trip there may be an additional cha-ge
of 10 cents for each such additional passenger; 10 cents for each
60 seconds of waiting time; and 25 cents for parcel delivery other
than for normal luggage carried. The above rates shall not apply to
qualified senior citizens under the Senior Citizens Taxi Cab Fare
Program.
Section 3: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage and approval according to law.
