HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCE - 1169 - 8/23/1977 - LEVY & TAXES 1977/78ORDINANCE NO. 169 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE LEVY AND COLLECTION OF TAXES FOR THE CORPORATE AND MUNICIPAL PURPOSES OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING MAY 1, 1977, AND ENDING APRIL 30, 1978 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DUPage, Illinois: Section 1. That the sum of four million, ninety-seven thousand, four hundred eighty-eight dollars and no cents ($4,097,488.00), and the same being the total amount to be levied of appropriations heretofore made for the corporate and municipal purposes for the fiscal year beginning May 1, 1977, and ending April 30, 1978, as appropriated for the current fiscal year by the "Annual Appropriation Bill," be and the same is hereby levied on all taxable property with the Village of Elk Grove Village according to the valuation of said property as is, or shall be assessed or equalized by State and County purposes for the current year 1977. 4he appropriations theretofore having heretofore been made in and by an Ordinance adopted by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village at a meeting thereof regularly convened and held in the said Village of Elk Grove Village, Illinois, on the 26th day of July, 1977, and thereafter duly published in the "Voice" of Elk Grove Village, Lerner Publications, a newspaper published in and having a general circulation within the said Village of Elk Grove Village, on the 3rd day of August, 1977, according to law; the various objects and purposes for which said appropriations were heretofore made are set forth under the column entitled "Amount Appropriated," and the specific amount hereby levied for each object and purpose is set forth under the column entitled "Amount Levied," as follows: ARTICLE I - That this Levy Ordinance is adopted pursuant to the Illinois Municipal Code providing, however, that any tax rate limitation as to tax levies in the Illinois Municipal Code in conflict with the Ordinance shall not be applicable to this Ordinance since the Village of Elk Grove Village is a "Home Rule" municipality, having a population in excess of 25,000, and seeks to exercise all powers granted pursuant to Section 6, Article VTI, of the Constitution of the State of Illinois and particularly does not choose to be bound by any tax limitations contained in the Illinois Municipal Code. Section 3. That the Village Clerk is hereby directed to file a certified copy of this Ordinance with the County Clerk of Cook County and DUPage County within the time specified by law. Section 4.
