AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING SALARIES FOR THE POLICE DEPARTME"1T
OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of
Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and
DuPage, Illinois:
Section 1. That the salaries for Lieutenants, Sergeants and
Patrolmen of the Police Department of the Village of Elk Grove
Village shall be and are hereby established as follows:
Reference to "Length of Service" is applicable only to Patrolman.
No person presently employed shall receive two (2) experience pay increases
within one rank in any twelve (12) month period except upon specific
authorization by the President and Board of Trustees.
Section 2. A new Patrolman may be hired in pay step B if he
has two (2) or more years of prior police, or equivalent,
experience and only in instances when, in the judgment of the
Fire and Police Commission, a candidate is exceptionally well
qualified.
Section 3. Within ten (10) days from passage of this Ordinance,
or at the time of hiring a new Policeman, the Fire and Police
Commission of the Village shall ascertain and verify a Police-
man's prior police experience, if any. Police experience shall
be computed to the nearest month. Periods of more than fifteen
(15) days shall be computed as a full month's experience. Upon

ascertainment of a Policeman's experience, the Secretary of the
Fire and Police Commission shall transmit to the Village
Treasurer the following information:
A. Name of the Policeman.
B. Effective date of employment with the Village
of Elk Grove Village Police Department.
C. Salary anniversary date.
Duplicate copies of the foregoing shall be sent to the Chief of
Police, the village Manager and the Village Clerk.
Section 4. Except as otherwise provided herein, all pay increases
resulting either directly or indirectly from police experience
acquired as a member of the Police Department of the village,
shall be effective on the first day of the pay period wherein
falls the policeman's annual in -rank experience anniversary.
Section 5. This Ordinance shall be in full effect and according
to law provided, however, experience pay increases granted
present personnel shall be effective as of May 1, 1975.
