AN ORDINANCE LIMITING THE SPEED OF TRAFFIC
IN ALL CONSTRUCTION AREAS TO 15 MILES PER HOUR
NOW, THEREM RE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the President and Board of
Tru stees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and
DuPage, Illinois, as follows:
Section 1: That Section 14.322, Speed Restrictions, as
amended, of Article III, Rules for Driving, of Chapter 14, Traffic,
of the Municipal Code of the Village of Elk Grove Village, be amended
by inserting the following paragrcoi so that it immediately precedes
subparagraph (a), Penalty:
It shall be unlawful to drive any motor vehicle
on any street in a construction zone or area not
under the jurisdiction of the Department of Public
Works and Buildings, State of Illinois, or Counties
of Cook or DuPage, at a speed in excess of 15 miles
per hour. A construction zone or area is hereby de-
fined as being any portion of the Village in which
construction of houses, buildings and the like is in
progress within the Village boundaries.
Section 2: That the Chief of Police hereby is authorized to
post signs in accordance with this ordinance, in those areas where
construction is in progress.
Section 3: Any person, firm or corporation violating the
provisions of this ordinance shall be fined not less 'han $5.00, nor
more than $200.00 for each offense.
Section 4: That this ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage, approval and publication, ac-
cording to law.
