HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCE - 808 - 5/9/1972 - SCAVENGER LICENSE AMENDEDORDINANCE NO.go AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 22.1501 AND 22.1502 OF TILE MUNICIPAL COON OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grow Village, Counties of. Cook and DuPage, Illinois, as follows: 11 Section 1: That Section 22.1501 of the Municipal Code of the Vi.l-lagc of Elk Grove Village be and is hereby amended so as to read as follows: °22.1501 License Required. It shall be unlawful for any person., firm or corporation to engage in the business of a scavenger within the Village without first having obtained a license therefor. The annual fee for such license shall be five hundred ($500.00) dollars. The term "scavenger" is hereby defined to mean: Any person engaged in the removal and disposal of table refuse or animal and vegetable matter commonly known as garbage from hotels, restaurants, cafes, boarding houses, cafeterias, residences, commercial or industrial establishments and any other place within the Village wherein food is served or is obtained upon the premises; or the removal And disposal of combustible refuse, including, but not limited to, paper, cartons, boxes, barrels, wood, excelsior, tree branches, yard trimmings; or the removal and disposal of non-combustible refuse, including, but not limited to, metals, tin cans, metal furniture, dirt and other mineral waste, street wastes and ashes." Section 2: That Section 22.1502 be and is hereby amended to read as follows: 22.1502. Limiting the number of licenses to be issued. The number of scavenger licenses to be issued shall be limited to six (G) in number. One of said number shall be for scavenger service for the entire Village; the remaining five licenses shall be for scavenger service in the industrially and commercial zoned areas of the village, and churches and schools. The Village Clerk shall designate the character of the license on the licensing document itself. Said licenses shall create no vested interest in the licensee and may be renewed or r.cvukcd at the discretion of the President and Board of Trustees at the end of any licensing period with or without cause. The licensing period for a scavenger_ license shall continence ori11-iy 1st and end on April 30th of each year. Section 3: Any person, firm or corporation violating any provisions of these ordinances shall be fined not less than $5.00 nor more than $500 for each offense, and a separate offense shall be deemed committed on each day during or on oh.ch a violation occurs or continues. Section 4: That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication, according to lata. PASSED and APPROVED this 9th day of May 1972.
