AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF
ELK GROVE VILLAGE BY ADDING THERETO CHAPTER 7,
ARTICLE 14 ESTABLISHING A HOUSING COMV1ISSION
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board
of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook
and DuPage, Illinois:
Section l: That there be added to the Municipal Code of
Elk Grove Village the following:
Chapter 7
Article XIV
Housing Commission
Section 7.1401 Creation of Commission: A Housing Commission
is hereby created for the Village of Elk Grove Village, It shall
consist of nine (9) members appointed by the President of the
Village for a period of time equal to his term of office with the
advise and consent of the Board of Trustees. Said members shall
reflect diverse disciplines necessary to accomplish the purpose of
the Commission. Said Commission shall elect its own Chairman and
Secretary and as a first order of business, adopt and propose rules
and procedures for its meetings. No compensation shall be provided
for members except as hereinafter provided by resolutions duly adopted
by the Board of Trustees.
Section 7_1402 Purpose. The purpose for which the Commission is
created is:
A. 'To assist and advise the President and Board of Trustees
relative to measures necessary to provide adequate and safe housing for
all individuals within the community.
B. To define and establish housing needs.
C. To determine and present to the President and Board of Trustees
a future housing program including the goals and objectives and the
formulation of a plan of implementation.
Section 7.1403 Function: The.functions of the Commission shall
include the'following:
1. To initiate a com?rehensive survey.
2. To pursue a com-nunity-wide program of information and education
in regards to the activities of this Comuission.
3. To assimilate all information on housing programs available
through private sources and all governmental agencies.
4. The Commission will further make recommendations on these
various programs as they apply to Elk Grove Village.
5. To explore and recommend creative changes where it is deemed
necessary to meet the task of this Commission.
6. To initiate and foster the cooperation between this Commission
and all governmental agencies that function within the area served by
this Commission namely School Districts, Park Districts, Township,
County and State and related Federal agencies.
7. To initiate and foster this same cooperation between this
Commission and the business community both industrial and commercial.
8. To initiate and foster this same cooperation be ri:,een this
Commission and religious institutions, service organizations, and
civic groups.
9. To establish communications with other villages in the
area leading towards the goal of establishing an area -wide housing task
force.
Section 2: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
