NOW, THCREFOP,P, BE IT OaDAINED by the President and Board of
Trustees of the Village of Ell: Grove Village, Counties of Cool: and
DuPage, Illinois:
Section 1. That the salaries for I'i.re Lieutenants, Fire
Engineers and Firemen of the Fire Department of the Village
of Elk Grove Village shall be and are hereby established
as follows:

No person presently employed shall receive two (2) experience pay increases
within one rank in any twelve (12) month period except upon specific
authorization by the President and Board of Trustees.
Section 2. The starting salary of new firemen shall be
determined by the Fire and Police Commission in consideration
of the candidate's prior fire or equivalent experience,
qualification, education, and suitability for the position.
However, starting salary shall not exceed $687 per month
except in instances when, in the iud.gnie.nt of the Fire and
Police Commission, a candidate is exceptionally well
qualified.
Section 3. Within ten (10) days from passage of this
ordinance, 6r at the time of hiring a new fireman, the Fire
and Police Commission of the Village, shall ascertain and
verify a fireman's prior experience, if any. Experience
shall be computed to the nearest month. Periods of fifteen
(15) days or Less, shall be disregarded. Periods of more
than fifteen (15) days shall be computed as a full month's
experience. Upon ascertaihmant of a fireman's experience,
the Secretary of the Fire and Police Commission shall
transmit to the Village Treasurer the following information:
A. Name of the fireman.
B. Effective date of employment with the
Village of Elk Grove Village Fire
Department.
C. Salary anniversary date.

Duplicate copies of: the forcgoiuo shall be sent to the Fire Chief, the
Village Manager and the Village Clerk.
Section 4. Encept as otherwise provided herein, all pay
increases resulting either directly or indirectly from

the Village, shall be effective on the first clay of the

Section 5. This ordinance shall be in full effect and
according to law provided, however, experience pay increases
granted present personnel shall be effective as of
May 1, 1969.
