ORDINANCE NO. 558
AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING SALARIES FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT
OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE
NOW, THEREFORE, BE. IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees
of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, Illinois:
Section 1. That the salaries for Lieutenants and Firemen of the Fire
Department of the Village of Elk Grove Village shall be and are here-
by established as follows:

No person presently employed shall receive two (2) experience pay increases
within one rank in any twelve (12) month period.
Section 2. The starting salary of new firemen shall be determined
by the Fire and Police Commission in consideration of the candidate's
prior fire or equivalent experience, qualification, education, and suit-
ability for the position. However, starting salary shall not exceed
$654 per month except in instance .than, in the ju dgmeri, 3i ':iio Fire
and Police Commission, a candidate is exceptionally well qualified.
Section 3. Within ten (10) days from passage of this ordinance, or
at the time of hiring a new fireman, the Fire and Police Commission
of the Village, shall ascertain and verify a fireman's prior experience,
if any. Experience shall be computed to the nearest month. Periods
of fifteen (15) days or less, shall be disregarded. Periods of more
than fifteen (15) days shall be computed as a full month's experience.
Upon ascertainment of a fireman's experience, the Secretary of the
Fire and Police Commission shall transmit to the Village Treasurer
the following information:

A. Name of the fireman.
B. Sf`ective date of employment with the
Village of Elk Grove Village Fire De-
partment.
C. Salary anniversary date.
Duplicate copies of the foregoing shall be sent to the Fire Chief, the Village
Manager and the Village Clerk.
Section 4. Except as otherwise provided herein, all pay increases
resulting either directly or indirectly from experience acquired as a
member of the Fire Department of the Village, shall be effective cn
the first day of the pay period wherein falls the fireman's annual
in -rank experience anniversary.
Section 5. This ordinance shall be in full effect and according to
law provided, however, experience pay increases granted present
personnel shall be effective as of May 1, 1968.
