AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING SALARIES FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT OF THE
VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE
NOW, THEREFORE, I3G IT ORDAINED by the President and Rodid of Trustees of
the Village of Elk Crove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, Illinois:
Section 1. That the salaries for Lieutenants, Sergeants, Patrolmen
and Cadets of the Police Department of the Village of Elk Grove Village
shall be and are hereby established as follows:

No person presently employed shall receive two (2) experience pay increases
within one rank in any twelve (12) month period.
Section 2. The starting salary of new patrolmen shall be de-
termined by the Fire and Police Commission in consideration of
the candidates' prior police or equivalent experience, qualifica-
tions, education and suitability for the position. However,
starting salary shall not exceed $687 per month except in instances
when, in the judgment of the Fire and Police Commission, a candi-
date is exceptionally well qualified.
Section 3. Within ten (10) days from passage of this ordinance, or
at the time of hiring a new policeman, the Fire and Police Commission
of the Village shall ascertain and verify a policeman's prior police
experience, if any.

of fifteen (15) days or less, shall be disregarded. Periods of more
than fifteen (15) days, shall be computed as a full month's exper-
ience. Upon ascertainment of a policeman's experience, the Sec-
retary of the Fire and Police Commission shall transmit to the
Village Treasurer the following information:
A. Flame of the policeman.
B. Effective date of employment with the
Village of Elk Grove Village Police De-
partment.
C. Salary anniversary date.
Duplicate copies of the foregoing shall be sent to the Chief of Police, :'.e
Village Manager and the Village Clerk.
Section 4. Except as otherwise provided herein, all pay in-
creases resulting either directly or indirectly, from police ex-
perience acquired as a member of the Police Department of the
Village, shall be effective on the first day of the pay wherein
falls the policeman's annual in -rank experience anniversary.
Section 5. This ordinance shall be in full effect and according
to law provided, however, experience pay increases granted pre-
sent personnel shall be effective as of May 1, 1968.
