AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING SALARIES FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, Illinois: Section 1. That the salaries for Lieutenants, Sergeants and Patrolmen of the Police Department of the Village of Elk Grove Village shall be and are hereby established as follows: Lieutenant Sergeant Patrolman per annum per annum per annum Less than one year of police experience in rank $10,020 $8,652 $7,128 One year but less than twor eaank rs police experience 10,524 9,084 7,476 Two years but less than 3 years police experience 11,052 9,540 7,848 in ran Three years police experience in rank 11,604 10,020 8,316* *Said increase to $8,316.00 for patrolmen with three years police experience shall be based upon merit and upon the recommendation of the Chief of Police. Police experience as used herein shall include pervices as a law enforcement officer with the Village of Elk Grove Village's regular Police Department and service with any other village, county, state or federal regular police department. Section 2. Within ten (10) days from passage of this ordinance or at the time of hiring a new policeman the Police and Fire Commission of the Village shall ascertain and verify a policeman's prior police experience, if any. Police experience shall be computed to the nearest month. Periods of less than fifteen (15) days shall be disregarded. Periods of more than fifteen (15) days shall be com- puted as a full months experience. Upon ascertainment of a policeman's experience, the Secretary of the Police and Fire Com- mission shall transmit•to the Village Treasurer the following information: A. The name of the policeman. B. The effective date of employment with the Village of Elk Grove Village's Police Department. C. Prior police experience expressed in months. Duplicate copies of the foregoing shall be sent to the Chief of Police, the Village Manager and the Village Clerk. Section 3. All pay increases resulting either directly or indirectly from police experience acquired as a member of the Police Department of the village shall be effective on the first day of the pay period wherein falls the policeman's annual in rank experience anniversary. In determining the policeman's experience anniversary date, prior police experience with other police depart- ments as well as service with the Police Department of the Village of Elk Grove Village shall be considered. Section 4. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after June 1, 1967 and its passage and approval according to law. PASSED this 27th day of June, 1967.
